It’s been quiet around here on the blog. But for good reasons! I’m preparing for shooting my first wedding this Saturday! I’m also re-working my website, portfolio, and photography packages. Not to mention a few big projects at the day job. I feel a little bad about the lack of content, so for now, here’s a video my wife took of Phoebe trying on tap shoes. It’s too awesome for words!
Once the wedding is over and I’ve made more progress on the website, regular posting will resume! You’ve been warned.
Phoebe’s growing up so fast! Not only has she moved up to an older preschool class, we enrolled her in her first ballet class! Naturally, we went and bought her a little outfit for the class and I felt the need to take some shots of her after she tried it on at home. Click to continue →
As I’ve discussed, here and here, I’m participating in the Strobist.com Boot Camp.
The latest assignment is a room shoot. I’m not good with this kind of photography, and I don’t feel like I have the proper equipment either (i.e. super wide lens and/or a giant house). I came REALLY close to just skipping this one. But it’s important to me that I do all the assignments. So here it is! Phoebe’s bedroom:

Phoebe loves apple juice, her dinosaur, and Wow Wow Wubbzy! When she has any one of those things she typically ignores me. When she has all three, I can set up some lights and take pictures of her with no consequence
In this case, I’m using two LP120‘s. One is to her left shooting through an umbrella, triggered via pocketwizard. The second is on her right with a full CTO gel, triggered optically. Handheld and shot at a low shutter speed to let some day light burn in through the curtains.
